According to the
website of the
Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría de Sevilla
(),
the Academy began in 1660 as a school for the teaching of the fine arts
that lasted until the end of the 17th century.
It was continued from 1759 by a group of artists teaching the fine arts,
which in 1771 became the
Real Escuela de las Tres Nobles Artes de Sevilla and remained so
until 1827.
From 1827 to 1849 it was the
Real Academia de Nobles Artes de Santa Isabel.
In 1850 it became the
Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Primera Clase de Sevilla.
On 1892, July 8, the teaching functions were taken by the university, and
the Academy concentrated on other aspects of the fine arts.
It later took its current name, the
Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría de
Sevilla.
The petition for this name change was made in 1896; it is not clear when
it was granted.
