1753	This date is supported by its website (). According to its website (), in 1783 the Georgofili absorbed the Società Botanica Fiorentina (Florentine Botanical Society), which had been founded in 1716. On p.11 of Georgofili (1931), we learn that in 1783, because the Società Botanica Fiorentina was having difficulties and its most authoritative members (like Giovanni Targioni Tozzetti) were very active in the Accademia dei Georgofili, Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo wished to merge the two societies under the name of the latter. At this time, the new constitution of the Academy broadened the scope of the Academy to include a wide variety of economic problems, in addition to those of an agricultural nature. According to pp.13-14 of Georgofili (1931), in 1870 (after Italian independence) the constitution underwent major changes including the broadening of the Aacademy's scope to include the natural sciences whose application might confer prosperity on the nation. The Academy coincidentally changed from a local organization to a national one. According to p.27 of Georgofili (1931), one must realize that Atti of the Academy cover only a small part of the activities of the Academy in its first one hundred years, partly because it began publication only 40 years after the founding of the Academy, and partly because the Giornale Agrario Toscano existed side-by-side with the Atti. And at a brief historical "Giornale Agrario Toscano" webpage, we learn that this journal was founded in 1827 by three members of the Accademia dei Georgofili, Raffaello Lambruschini, Lapo de' Ricci and Cosimo Ridolfi, and that it was a direct reflection of the studies and discussions of the Academy, presented in a simple and direct style.
