Maylender (1926-1930), v.1, pp.232-281, gives a lengthy article on
the history of this Academy.
According to
Maylender (1926-1930), v.1, p.233, this Academy was founded in
Rome in 1690 as the Accademia dell'Arcadia.
On pp.245-246 of v.1 of
Maylender (1926-1930), it is suggested that the decline in, or
closing of, several Roman literary academies (including the closing of the
Accademia Reale di Cristina di Svezia, or, Royal Academy of
Christina of Sweden, in 1689) in some sense necessitated the founding in
1690 of the
Accademia dell'Arcadia.
According to
Antenati: Area italica nel Settecento, in 1925 the Academy
assumed the sub-title Accademia Letteraria Italiana
(Italian Literary Academy).
