1810, December 25	The Ateneo's website () provides the following historical information. The Ateneo was formed in 1810 through the merger of the Accademia degli Eccitati and the Accademia degli Arvali. The Accademia degli Eccitati had been founded in 1642, and was primarily concerned with letters; it was re-organized in 1749. The Accademia degli Arvali had been founded in 1769, and was concerned with agriculture and economics in general; it was initially called the Accademia d'Agricoltura o degli Arvali, but in 1787 changed its name to the Accademia Economico-Arvale. By decree of Napoleon on 1810, December 25, these two academies were merged into one body named Ateneo di Scienze, Lettere e Arti di Bergamo.
