1843	According to a Wikipedia article Royal Society of Tasmania, the Society was founded on 1834, October 14 as Botanical and Horticultural Society of Van Diemen’s Land. According to its website (), the following year, 1844, the Society was granted the royal designation by Queen Victoria, and became Royal Society of Van Diemen’s Land for Horticulture, Botany and the Advancement of Science.
