the Academy was founded in 1820 as the Société Académique
de Savoie. Then, in 1827 through letters patent Charles-Félix
(1765-1831), King of Sardinia, granted the institution the name
Société Royale Académique de Savoie.

an Académie Royale. Its website goes on to say that, with the
Annexation of 1860, it became Académie Impériale through
a decree of 1860, July 14. In 1870 it became the Académie des Sciences, Belles-Lettres
