In 1921, it was revived under the name Петроградское Физико-Математическое Общество (Petrograd Physical and Mathematical Society), later the Ленинградское Физико-Математическое Общество (Lenigrad Physical and Mathematical Society). In 1930, in the face of persecution, the Society decided to dissolve itself. In 1953, the Ленинградский Общематематический Семинар (Leningrad All-Mathematical Seminar, or Leningrad Mathematical Seminar) was organized, and filled the gap in the Society's existence to some extent. In 1959 the Society was resurrected as the Ленинградское Математическое Общество (Leningrad Mathematical Society), and later became the Санкт-Петербургское Математическое Общество (St. Petersburg Mathematical Society).

In 1949, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Westdeutschen Akademien was founded as a successor to the Kartell, and in 1967 it became the Konferenz der Deutschen Akademien der Wissenschaften in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Two East-German academies later joined, the Sächsischen Akademie (in 1991) and the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie (in 1993). In 1998 the word Konferenz was replaced by Union; evidently, at some point, the phrase "in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" was also removed to reflect the fact that it contained more than West German academies.]

International Association for Testing Materials = Association Internationale pour l'Essai des Matériaux = Internationaler Verband für die Materialprüfung der Technik
[The Association was founded in 1895, and was in existence as late as 1914 (when its Proceedings ceased); it is possible that its activity ceased completely with the onset of WWI. (It should be noted that the ASTM was founded in 1898 as the American Chapter of the International Association for Testing Materials.) In 1927 a new international association bearing the same English and French names as the one founded in 1895 was founded; its names are given in various library catalogues as: Association Internationale pour l'Essai des Matériaux = International Association for Testing Naterials = Internationaler Verband für Materialprüfung. It is quite possible that this new association was intended as a replacement for the earlier association. This new association was still in existence in 1937, when it held its 2nd congress; it is possible that this association ceased with the onset of WWII. Finally, the founding in 1947 of RILEM may have been intended as a replacement for this 2nd association.]
